John Powley knows firsthand what moving means to a family. John grew up having attended 13 different schools before he graduated from high school. His dad was a corporate executive that was transferred frequently. Instead of having to leave his family for a period of time, he believed it was better to keep the family together. John grew up all over the western and southern United States from Hawaii to Texas. John knows how important it is for families to find the RIGHT house, at the RIGHT price, in the RIGHT neighborhood, and with the RIGHT educational facilities. He prides himself on taking the time to get to know everyone he works with. He works hard to make sure they have all the information necessary to make good lifestyle and investment decisions.
Three decades of experience
After serving in Vietnam with the Army, John moved to Nebraska to finish college. His first jobs out of college were positions at the University of Nebraska and later at Creighton University. His commitment to education has continued into his Real Estate career. He dedicates himself to making sure his buyers and sellers are "informed consumers" in every apsect of the buying and selling process. He not only wants to find a great house, he also wants to negotiate a great deal for his customers.
John left the academic world in 1979 to enter the Real Estate profession. As a single parent of a 7 year old son, many people questioned that career move at the time. By late 1980, mortgage rates were above 17% and the United States was in an energy and financial recession (sound familiar?). Still, John worked hard at building his business. He was determed to provide a good future for his young son. John learned a lot of valuable lessons during those difficult times. That early experience, and the 3 decades of successful sales sinces, are valuable assets for his customers today. John has accomplished much over the 3 decades since he entered the Real Estate profession.

A man of varied interests
John Powley loves to spend time with his family. John has 3 children. His older son, Simon, now lives in Seattle with his wife and 2 girls. Those grandchildren are a special part of his life. John also has twins, Sarah and Mike. Mike recently graduated from college and Sarah will graduate soon. John also plays an active role in caring for his 91 year old mother. She lives in Arkansas, but he tries to get her up to Omaha for extended visits as often as he can.
John is a man of varied interests. He loves living in Omaha with all the cultural and casual things to do here. He enjoys going to the Omaha Symphony and to the various playhouses for local theater. He has always been an old car and hot rod enthusiast. He is the past president and charter member of the local chapter of the National Chrysler Club. He has owned a number of project cars over the years from a 1927 Bugatti Racer kit car to his current project, a rare 1976 Jaguar XJC Coupe.
It is almost impossible to pull him away from a Husker football game on Fall Saturdays. John likes to entertain and cook for his friends and family, especially when it comes to smoking meats. His specialty is smoked brisket.
He also likes to hang out with his new best friend Oscar. Oscar is a young French Bulldog he recently adopted from a rescue shelter in Lousianna.
Fishing, golfing, and boating are other hobbies he enjoys. John is also active in his church and several social organizations.
Basically, John Powley is the kind of "down home guy" that loves life and enjoys being with friends and family. He is also a seasoned Real Estate Counselor and Negotiator ready to help you succeed in your real estate goals.
